Mr. Roth
Head Coach
Head Coach
Mr. Roth first brought SciOly to Northview in 2007 after a group of his students asked him to coach the team. Roth agreed, on the condition that the team would be student-led. Since then, he's worked alongside hundreds of students to build the team into what it is today.
Outside of SciOly, Mr. Roth teaches Honors and AP Chemistry. He likes to play pickleball in his spare time.
The most unnecessary yet useful thing Mr. Roth owns is a rucksack filled with steel plates.
Assistant Coach
Mrs. Stewart first began coaching in 2015. Ever since, she's helped the team through every step, from providing expert mentorship to soliciting team preferences for adornments of Long Friday's most sought-after moment: dinner.
Mrs. Stewart teaches Astronomy, MedTech, Geology, and Data Science. She loves visiting various national parks with her kids.
She believes that crabs don't see fish as flying
Cameron has been a member of SciOly since 2023. Once, his partner coded a robot to go forwards with 'f', but Cameron assumed 'b' was for backwards, as opposed to the actual command: 'r' for reverse. The robot promptly burst into flames due to the input error.
Cameron claims to have never tangled a slinky.
Yara has been in SciOly since she was 11, in 2019. Her first ever events were Ping Pong Parachute, Food Science, and Fossils.
If Yara could never have a specific super power, it would be super size, for fear of causing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property damage.
Harhui Lee has been a member of SciOly since 2023. Initially on White Team, Harhui worked her way up to her current position as captain in just two seasons.
Harhui theorized 2 grams of sawdust was the maximum amount you can sneak into a Rice Krispy Treat before Cameron would notice. Her hypothesis was proven correct.
Spheven Seal-Roth, or simply Spheven for short, is our watchful, wise, somewhat judgmental, absurdly fluffy mascot. Spheven has one piece of advice for every team member:
"DON'T PRINT EVERYTHING OUT THE DAY BEFORE AN INVITATIONAL."
